The physiological effects of blood sugar and insulin balance

“Hi, I’m Dr. Paul McGrew. I’d like to spend a few minutes talking to you and let you know why I think this program is fantastic and from a medical viewpoint, brilliant!

My own venture into health started years ago when my younger brother had a heart attack at age 37.

That got my attention. At age 40 I wanted some way naturally to decrease my risk for heart disease and this is what I found.

Initially I went on a vegetarian diet thinking that if I just cut the fat out of my diet that I would lose weight and be healthy. Didn’t work. Later shown not to work in a big medical study. Then I found a way to eat balanced protein carbohydrate balanced food, healthy meals, healthy fat, and I became healthier and healthier. I became a trainer and tried to share that with my patients – tried to get them to eat 5 times a day, prepare all their meals, take it to work ……it was a miserable failure! Almost nobody was able to do it!

Americans are just too busy.

Then my wife introduced me to this program. I thought great- but before I recommend this to my patients I’ll try it – so I tried it and I got even healthier still – I couldn’t believe it!

I have arthritis and after losing just 5 pounds my arthritis pain went away!

And now I’m a full 17 pounds lighter than I was and I thought that was impossible to get here! I love how I feel and now my patients are trying this program. Their diabetes is improving, their blood pressure is improving, they’re feeling better, their pain is improving. It really works for everybody.

I’d like to spend a few minutes explaining why I think this program is brilliant.

Everybody knows if you want to lose weight that first of all you have to control your calories or portions, but diets don’t work at all and why is that? Because everybody hates to be hungry! Sooner or later if you are hungry enough you’re going to give it up. Everybody does and you should – it doesn’t work that way.

Well it has been shown, certainly, that if you eat 6 meals a day it gives you better weight loss, less hunger and better cholesterol than eating 3 – so you do want to start with eating 6 meals a day. Well what’s the problem with that? We’re too busy to make six meals a day. So with this program you are able to buy 5 meals a day from the company. They’re really easy to prepare, they’re good, they’re quick, you can even do them on a trip to Africa as I had a client do recently, and you lose weight. You have one meal at home which is lean meat and vegetables with some healthy oil. Great program to lose weight.

Why this Program works so well...

Part of why it works so well, though, is in order to have the best weight loss you have to protein and carbohydrate balance your food. But I want to talk about why that is. So weight loss is not just decreasing calories. It’s actually getting our hormones internally correct. Now when we eat foods that are primarily plant foods, carbohydrates which includes vegetables, fruit, starches such as potatoes and greens just as the USDA wants us to do, our body puts out the hormone insulin to help our bodies soak up the blood sugar. But insulin is a storage hormone. We are designed to be hunters and gatherers. Years ago if you ever got food, your body had to be able to assimilate that and store it as fat for the next day or two when you had nothing. Well, when you stored the food your insulin went up. You store everything and it blocks you from burning fat and then when you didn’t have anything your insulin dropped, you burn it and you were able to keep on going. If you couldn’t store fat, you died.

Well in America, guess what…. every day is a good day! Every day you are storing fat and you never get to that point where your insulin drops and you start burning it, except when you get on our program.

It so happens that if you eat a small amount of protein, and a small amount of carbohydrates that don’t zing your blood sugar, your blood sugar stays low and even, your body puts out a little bit of insulin, just enough, and you’re still able to burn fat efficiently. So rather than just running on sugar all day long which is what most Americans do, you start burning sugar and fat just like a hybrid auto now. That’s the most effective way to have energy and lose weight. But the second thing that happens as you do that – as your insulin drops and you are eating healthy and frequently, insulin promotes inflammation in our body. We have a system of inflammatory hormones, and anti-inflammatory hormones. In America our problem is too much of the pro-inflammation ones.

Anti-inflammatory Hormones

On this program you immediately shift to more anti-inflammatory hormones. Well what does that do?

  • Well, your serotonin levels improve and you think better.
  • Your blood pressure drops if you have high blood pressure by opening up the blood vessels .
  • If you are asthmatic your airways open
  • Your pain decreases in your joints
  • you just feel better!

Within two weeks on the program my arthritis pain totally went away!

It was due to these hormone changes and it is these hormone changes that lead to lower risk of heart disease, strokes, and also cancer. It leads to permanent, optimal health along with weight loss and that’s why I’m really excited about this!

This program leads to lowering your risk for the major killers in America at the same time you actually feel better, and enjoy yourself and the food we eat is fantastic! What a better way to go.
